Do you ever feel stuck—like there’s an invisible wall between you and the life you know you deserve? Maybe it’s a promotion at work, a healthy relationship, or even the confidence to speak up for yourself. That wall is often built from limiting beliefs—deeply ingrained stories that tell you why you can’t have or achieve something.
The good news? You don’t have to live with those stories. Breaking free from limiting beliefs is possible, and it doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. In this post, I’m sharing my 3-step method to help you tear down those walls and step into your limitless potential.
Step 1: Identify the Belief Holding You Back
The first step to breaking free is knowing exactly what you’re up against.
Ask yourself:
What do I believe about myself in this situation?
Is there a thought that keeps coming up when I try to move forward?
For example, if you’ve been hesitant to apply for a dream job, your limiting belief might be, “I’m not qualified enough.”
These beliefs often stem from childhood experiences, societal conditioning, or past failures. Take a moment to sit with these thoughts—journal them out, meditate, or talk them through with someone you trust. Awareness is key.
Step 2: Challenge the Narrative
Once you’ve identified your limiting belief, it’s time to play detective. Is this belief actually true? Spoiler: It rarely is!
Ask yourself:
What evidence do I have to support this belief?
What evidence exists that disproves it?
Let’s go back to the example of feeling unqualified for a job. Have you completed relevant training or gained experience in similar roles? Has anyone ever praised your skills?
By shining a light on the gaps in your belief, you begin to weaken its hold. For extra impact, reframe the belief into something empowering. For example, replace “I’m not qualified enough” with “I am constantly learning and growing, and I bring value to any role I step into.”
Step 3: Take Action
This is where transformation truly happens. The best way to shatter a limiting belief is to prove it wrong by taking action—even if it’s small.
If your belief tells you, “I’m not smart enough to start my own business,” your action could be as simple as signing up for a free workshop on entrepreneurship or researching how to write a business plan.
Action creates evidence. Each step you take builds your confidence and rewires your brain to believe, “I can do this.”
Bonus Tip: Be Patient and Compassionate with Yourself
Breaking free from limiting beliefs is a process, not an overnight fix. There will be days when old stories try to creep back in—and that’s okay. The key is to recognize them for what they are: outdated narratives that no longer serve you.
By repeating these three steps—identify, challenge, and act—you’ll find yourself stepping into a new version of you, one that isn’t bound by limitations but fueled by possibilities.
